This program reviews current research related to non-suicidal self-injury including prevalence and effective treatment modalities. Participants will come away with a better understand this coping strategy and effective ways for working with students who participate in the behaviors.
Learn How to Navigate and Track Time in Alignment with SB 179
Explore and learn how to use data to advocate for change. This lunch and learn will focus on refining your understanding of the four service delivery components, data, data collection, and advocating for your program. We will also discuss the different types and methods used in collecting data to include Process, Perception, and Student Outcome Data. Participants will leave the Lunch and Learn with ideas on how to utilize different sources of data to re-culture and build support for their comprehensive school counseling program.
Texas School Mental Health Toolkit
The Texas Education Agency has a new website and School Mental Health Toolkit available for districts and schools. These resources were developed with collaboration between Texas Education Agency, Health and Human Services Commission, the University of Texas and the Mental Health Technology Transfer Center to help districts align with the Safe and Supportive Schools and Effective Schools Framework in supporting best practice implementation for your students, staff, and community. Attendees will walk away with an in-depth look at the newly released resources for immediate implementation in their district and on their campus.
LGBTQI+ 101 for School Counselors
School Counselors are seeing more students in the school setting identifying with the LGBTQQIAAPP community. The presenter will review key terminology, developmental milestones, and review research regarding specific mental health issues affecting those who identify with the community. Attendees will gain insight into affirmative practices for the school setting to help students navigate their identity within the learning environment. At the end of the presentation, there will be time for attendees to ask questions.
